Game Review#5 This is the Only Level

Review:
Intro --> This game is a 2D platform game which you have to get the elephant to the exit part on the right of the screen.

The Game --> With a total of 30 levels, This is the Only Level game filled with series of pits, some with spikes, and you need to past a switch that will raise a door and deliver the elephant safely to the exit. The twist of the game is that every each of the level there are variety of challenges, the game mechanics have changed over and over again. And not only that the control and the environment changed too. The tricks are in the words bellow the "Level". Overall game was fun but only can play it one time. The second time you play it you will know all the trick by then so it is not as fun as the first time you are playing it. To improve this game actually quite easy, take out the word clues at the bottom and make the level randomly so people could actually play it again and again without getting bored of it.

To control --> This is easy only using keyboard with different places depends on the level (find out while playing ^^) and there is one level that needs you to use the mouse to control)
The design --> The graphic is actually quite simple, mostly fill with boxes and the elephant. But this design is simple enough for this game and it does actually make it interesting. The design shows that how simple this game is. The overall was quite a fun and interesting game and the one who design this was actually successful with this game =)

Game Review#4 Lemmings (another design --> Lemmings)

Review:
Intro --> Lemmings was originally a puzzle computer game developed by DMA Design and publishes in 1991(Loves puzzle games). I found out about this game just recently when one of my colleagues introduce me. This lemming was one of the most popular computer games of its time and was being praised by some of games magazines. It had been about 18 years that Lemmings has developed, the game is just plain addictively fun. It was so famous until it develops to a number of games platforms, including the most recent one PSP, PS2, and PS3. And it is still as fun as the one created way back in 1991 and even more so now. The objective of this game is to let all the lemmings to an exit with few numbers of obstacles ahead. You need to assign some limited different skill to each of the lemming so the other lemmings can pass through it to the exit. The skills includes digging, bridge-building, blocking, basher, the one can fly, and digger.

The game
--> Lemmings has a few levels, each level has a destructible elements likes rocks, steel plates, high walls, large drops, water, lava or booby traps. Each level also has one or more entrance and one or more exits. The goal is to guide the green-haired little lemmings to exit safely and there are certain percentages of lemmings that you need to save. Here you need to assign correct skills to a certain lemmings in order to be successfully winning the level. In the old lemmings those assigned to special skills will be the one left over, but now they had improved (you can try the different in the 2 link I provided on top). Another great chance on the game is to be able to assign skills to the lemmings while your game paused. The lemmings will die if they fall from a very high place, fall into water or lava, fall off the map, get caught in a trap, and one more thing they will die after being assigned as a bomber.

As I mention just now about the skills, in this game total of 8 skills provided to be assign to the lemmings. Climbers will climb any vertical surface; floaters can safely fall from heights without injury. Basher, miners and diggers can dig, bash across, diagonally downward, direct downward, go through destructible elements. Builders will create a stairs up to 12 steps and blockers will make the other lemmings go to different direction from the original. Lastly bombers, after 5 seconds they will stop and explode. Skills can only be assigned in real time and the lemmings’ released rate predetermined by the level, but the player can increase this to a faster rate.

The four difficulty groups, fun, tricky, taxing and, mayhem, organize to create overall different tricks. Like the number of obstacles, the limitation on the skills, minimum rate of lemming release and the percentage of lemmings that must be saved.

To control --> the original relied on mouse control, so to be able to do it on psp they acctually did a great tweak. The D pad moves the cursor around the screen and if get near to the lemmings, a square will come out then you press X to assign the skills to that particular lemmings. The shoulder buttons cycle through eight skills but limited. The triangle button used to zoom in the map and the circle button to speeds up time. On the other side, analog stick use to pan the camera left and right. Even though using the mouse easier but psp did a great job to replace all that.

Sometimes the lemmings will also crumpled in one corner which makes you harder to control, but this one happen since the original game. They purposely make it that way and here is the challenging part.

The Design --> There are no storyline for this lemmings, the graphics is cartoony and 3D. The background compare to the old one are more in detail and the camera move from a particular part of the background, then zoom out. Psp suits this game for its background because of its widescreen, so you didn't need to pan left and right to see the whole scene.

The music is subtle and suits to the game. Most game I played, usually I will off the sounds and listen to my own music instead, but for lemmings the background music is soft that you can actually comfortable to leave it on. Each theme level has a different music.

Since this game has no story or ending, just a level after another, it's hard for you to get bored after playing. Another psp games that I love. Ing's rating 9/10 =)

Game Review#3 The Cursor Thief (another design)

Review:
Intro --> Cursor thief is just to avoid this character from stealing your mouse's cursor. Mouse control is to keep your cursor safe. Some of the extra cursor thief needs to get the ball across the screen by clicking and holding on to it. This game was intro by my friend last time, was actually keep on playing and comparing score with them. Such a simple game yet it's addictive to play it among your friends.

The Game
--> basically there is this character; he is trying to steal your cursor. He moves from one corner to where your cursor is, the main point is to avoid him stealing it. Within the box he can teleport, can fire a rocket, and a lot of others unique things just to get your cursor. He even can do a rainbow ball bomb which is the hardest to avoid. At the end of the game the higher point you have the wider smile the character will give you.

The Design --> The design is simple, with just a blue background with this irritating looking small guy. What I like about this game is the feeling that makes you agitated to keep on playing in order for you to get higher point. Enjoy the game (can click on my title to play the game)

Game Review#2 Exit

Review:
Game Review#1 Death JR
Review:
I used to play this game last time, it was my first few games I bought for my PSP. The reason I bought this game is because of the cute character in the front page =) I'd always love Tim Burton styles kind of character. His name is DJ, and he always creates trouble in school. The short clip it shown inside the games when it first started is they are a few students, DJ is one of them, they went inside the museum and DJ open some box that makes his entire schoolmate trap inside some kind of capsule thing. The objective of this game is to rescue his entire classmate. Death Jr. is an action game, fighting with all kind of demons. What I like about this that you can't turn your back on it, every where there is always the enemy, so I need to be prepared to fight. You also need to break all the objects inside to get some special elements if I remember it correctly. Here is some screen shot of the game ^^

overall DJ it's a very interesting game, you don't just kill and beat, but there are some stages that is challenging. You will have a lot of weapon like hamster (which is super cute, as a bomb kind of thing), shot gun, freeze gun, and many others (can't remember now) and you can upgrade it as well, the problem here it's just that a lil bit hard to change weapon. It's an addictive game I would say, but it's hard and when you die you need to start all over again, that's what irritate me. Like when after every stage you need to beat the boss with different power, you already fight all the way until the boss area, and then you died. Arghh after that they will send you back to the beginning again. The good point is after you die you can't wait to start again though =) I like the 3D view of the game, and the way DJ smash that weapon thingy. The feels it's like you are really DJ and you are inside the game ^^ to think about it, I haven't really finished the game, because I keep on losing in the end =P maybe I should play it again someday hehe......
